Bernards Inn Chef Corey Heyer returns to the James Beard House in New York City to host an exclusive dinner celebrating the best of New Jersey’s famed coastal seafood and fresh garden favorites. The five-course “Garden State Bounty” dinner will be presented on Thursday, August 9 at the legendary Beard House.

Inspired by his Jersey Shore roots and a commitment to growing and cooking with the freshest, seasonal ingredients and locally-sourced products, Chef Heyer will craft a summer seafood feast enhanced with flavors from the Bernards Inn’s own expansive garden and local growers.

Featured dishes will include Fluke Crudo, Barnegat Inlet Scallops, Cape May Salt Oysters, Seared Skate, and Smoked Bluefish. Jersey tomatoes, peaches, summer squash, and a variety of home-grown vegetables and herbs will be innovatively combined in each dish. The menu is paired with five exquisite wines selected by Bernards Inn Wine Director and Sommelier, Terri Baldwin.

“It is an honor to return to the James Beard House and prepare a dinner that celebrates everything that is so special about the Garden State,” says Chef Heyer, who grew up in Bay Head, New Jersey. We have some of the best seafood in the world and an abundance of local farms and top quality food purveyors.”

This is the fourth time that Chef Heyer has been invited to cook in America’s most famous kitchen, but the first time he will utilize ingredients the he cultivated himself. The Bernards Inn started its garden four years ago and additional beds have been added every year. Chef Heyer says, “The garden continues to transform our menu on so many levels.” The garden has helped The Bernards Inn garner “Best Fresh and Local” honors from the New York Times.
