Fall Attractions
Always do your best, what you plant now you will harvest later. -Og Mandino
Whether you planted seeds or simply good intentions, the harvest will be upon us in nearly a month. It is time to reflect on the seasons before and gather inspiration for the season ahead! September 23rd marks the official first day of fall this year. Crinkling leaves, cool breezes, crisp apples, spiraling wind chimes; these are the gentle reminders of the infamous autumn touches.
How could you begin a new season without advice from your Escape Artist? I am happy to report my four favorite “fall finds” to be enjoyed in the fresh, autumn air. Experience the sounds of the town, when Bernardsville comes alive on Friday, September 9th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Why travel a distance when you can stroll at your leisure through local Bernardsville… Enjoy the musical talents, shop the sidewalk sales and enjoy the best of Bernardsville. Of course your visit would not be complete without stopping by the Inn to sample our signature caramel apples. Join our Inn Club and you will have a chance to win a gift certificate for six guests to our Sunday Breakfast Buffet.
Just a few miles down the road, plan to visit Alstede Farms in historical Chester, for their Family Fun Days throughout September and October. Pick your favorite pumpkin, navigate through the corn kingdom and finish the day with a moonlight hayride around the cozy campfire. Select activities require special admission or a daily activity pass can be purchased.
Meander to Moorland Farms, as a horse enthusiast or simply a lover of celebration, for the Far Hills Race Meeting on October 22nd. This event is assured to create or to continue a lasting tradition. Originally the Essex Hunt, founded in Montclair state in 1870, the race has developed today into an event with a charitable center. To date, the event has raised over $17million for the Somerset Medical Center. Experience the races and the melting pot of fashion, food and fun!
Finish the season where we began, and experience the warmth of the fireplace and the gracious hospitality of the Inn. A signature gourmet getaway, the Fall Feast, is the perfect way to connect your palette with the flavors of fall. Enjoy deluxe overnight accommodations, seasonal amenities of mulled apple cider and homemade pumpkin bread, along with a four course tasting dinner paired with hand selected wines. A la carte breakfast for two concludes your escape into the Somerset Hills until the next season. It’s never too soon to return
