Terri A. Baldwin
Wine Director, The Bernards Inn

Fusing great wine knowledge with extensive customer service, after 27 years in the hospitality business, Terri Baldwin is at the forefront with her wine program. At the beautiful Bernards Inn, Terri has found the perfect home to practice her creative and personalized method to food and wine. Her philosophy is simple: taste, read, and teach. Taste as many wines as possible, keep current on wine news, and introduce that knowledge to everyone who walks into the restaurant. While having the opportunity to meet with many winemakers and professionals in the wine industry, the education is passed on to the customer. Terri encourages questions from guests, and has a way not to make the guest feel intimidated.

At the Sommelier Society of America School in New York, Terri built the foundation of her wine repertoire. Under the instruction of Master Sommelier, Andrea Immer, Terri excelled graduating in the top five in her class with a grade point average of 96.

Terri has been recognized nationally for her great talent and skill. Terri was inducted into the New Jersey Restaurant Association Hall of Fame recognizing excellence in the hospitality field, as Most Valued Restaurant Employee of the Year in 1998. Each year NJRA recognizes the accomplishments of individuals and companies that work within the hospitality field in New Jersey. Ms. Baldwin was chosen from seven possible candidates and was the only woman to receive an award this year. Her other accomplishments include the Outstanding Service Award, American Express, Outstanding Performance in Customer Service, Forbes Magazine, Outstanding Bartender Award, Hunterdon Review.
Terri was inducted into the Chaîne des Rôtisseur in 1999, and inducted into the Chaîne des Rôtisseur/Professional du Vin Mondial in 2001. She is also a member of the Society of Wine Educators.

Under Terri’s direction, the Bernards Inn has earned the prestigious Best of Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator for the past five consecutive years. As wine director, Terri perfectly heightens Chef Corey W. Heyer’s cuisine with impressive wine selections. Understanding the individual needs of each diner and the importance of adding to the enjoyment of each dining experience is very important. As the wine consultant to the Dinner of Hope, a charity event that raises money for the children’s funds, she is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others not only through wine, but under the basic theme of “Eat, Drink and be Merry”.
