The spring months are full of them, birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, weddings, rehearsal dinners, showers, fundraisers and yes…graduations…from grammar school, high school and college. It is always such a treat to help plan these special moments in our client’s lives.  Our guests are always so happy about celebrating, they always want to make it just right.  Choose the right room, the right mood and the right food and drink.   In other words, make it perfect!   They trust us to make it perfect! That is something we all take very, very seriously.  This one moment in time is so importan...

Every year, as the winter weather turns into warm spring days, I begin to think about new beginnings.  New beginnings to me mean baby vegetables, morel mushrooms, peas and most importantly ramps.  Ramps are wild spring leeks.  The bottom part of the ramp has a mild garlic flavor, while the green tops have a distinct onion aroma.  To me, there is no better flavor in the spring. Spring is finally here but it wasn’t long ago when the winter season’s last blizzard collided with our Silver Oak Wine Dinner. We thank those who braved the near-whiteout conditions—determined to attend--and enjoyed the delightful wines and company of special guest, winemaker Daniel Baron. Daniel was very entertaining while delivering a wide array of information about the Silver Oak Cellars. A few facts discussed that may interest you: Daniel Baron has been with Silver Oak Cellars for 17 years, and previously had been with Dominus for 12 years. Daniel also spent time in France honing his s...

“Do you cook at home?”  “Not on my days off.” One of the most frequent questions I am asked when people find out I am a chef is, “Do you cook at home?”  The answer is no.  Yes, I am the designated cook on holidays I spend with my family (mainly Christmas day), but on my days off, cooking at home doesn’t even enter my mind.  I enjoy ordering out, usually a good slice of pizza.  I also enjoy going out to a new restaurant to see what is being served.  My favorite place to eat is a little sushi restaurant, in Somerville, called Shumi.  Shumi is tucked away in a ...
