The Mondavi family name is synonymous with wine, and it was a great pleasure to meet Tim Mondavi on his recent visit to The Bernards Inn. I have met his sister Marci, but was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Tim.
Tim and his sister Marci Mondavi Borger are the forces behind Continuum Estate, a small artisan winery in the Napa Valley. They have a single focus--to produce only one wine—Continuum Red, Pritchard Hill. Tim was recently featured on the front cover of Wine Spectator Magazine, along with the headline: “One Wine, One Purpose.”
Tim explained that the Continuum name was chosen to reflect a continuation of the Mondavi family name. Tim and Marci are children of Robert Mondavi. Before Robert Mondavi passed, Tim and Marci took him to the top of Pritchard Hill to see this vineyard. Pritchard Hill is set atop the eastern ridge of Napa Valley above Oakville with views out to San Francisco, the valley floor and Mount St. Helena.
To further the family legacy, a painting of a Cabernet Franc vine by Tim’s daughter Chiara is the inspiration for the Continuum label.
I thought this wine was fabulous, delicious, wonderful…beautifully textured and even though I tasted the young 2008, I thought the wine was delicious to drink right now.
