On Friday, August 28th we had the pleasure of hosting the wedding reception for Brooke Rogers and Tucker Kelley here at the Inn. A number of family members were staying in-house that night including Emily Kelley, the groom’s mother. She arrived around midday to check in and I escorted her up to her room. We had a delightful conversation going up the stairs during which time she told me that her now 85-year old mother had spent her wedding night at the Inn many years ago before going to Atlantic City for a one-night honeymoon. Mrs. Kelley’s comments immediately took me back to two years ago when we were gearing up for our 100th anniversary celebration. At the time I was in search of any stories, pictures or memorabilia that could be used to showcase our history. I excitedly asked Mrs. Kelley: Does your Mom have any pictures and would she be willing to share them with me? Unfortunately, however, the answer was “No, there aren’t any pictures.” I was only slightly dismayed, but my search continues. If anyone out there has anything to share about the Inn’s history, especially information about former owners, please pass it along. Thanks.
