A Red Zinfandel to Chase Away the Last Days of Winter

vineyardsWinter is winding down but the chill of the season is still upon us. This brings to mind to drink a beautiful well-made glass of red Zinfandel that we are featuring and pouring by the glass. The wine is Green and Red Zinfandel, from a Napa Valley vineyard called “Chiles Mill Vineyard.”  The name is derived from the rich red iron soils veined with green serpentine which are located in the steep hillls on the east side of the Napa Valley. This site acquired its name from pioneer J.B. Chiles.

I love to drink this style of red during the colder days. The feel and warmth of the wine can go a long way to relaxation and enjoyment. Savor this deep purple-colored wine and try to detect the flavors of plum, dark fruits, maybe some sage, definitely peppercorns, hint of smokiness and warming winter spices. I love the dissection part of the wine analysis, and it certainly is fun to discuss with friends, listening to all the opinions!

This wine can be enjoyed with plenty of different foods, but might I suggest our lamb shank or rack of lamb… great with aged cheeses. Enjoy a 6- or 9-oz glass, or as we say, “a glass and a half.”

We offer a selection of over 55 wines by the glass, reflecting what is new and exciting in the wine world and what we would love for you to taste and enjoy. You can try more wines without having to buy an entire bottle. Check out our wines by the glass and watch for new selections in the spring.
