I have been an avid Yankee fan as long as I can remember.  My Dad used to take us to games at the old Yankee Stadium a few times a year and it was always so special.  The hot dogs, the peanuts, the crazy fans, are etched in my mind. The only problem was that the Yankee teams from the mid 60's to the mid 70's were terrible! Season after season started out with great expectations only to end in bitter disappointment.  I always stayed loyal and as the team improved and they were back on top again, everyone knew I wasn't a fair weather fan. On Wednesday night I attended the opening ...

Coming from a large Italian family, I learned about hearty red wines at an early age.  My grandfather used to make it in his basement and my father had it with dinner on most nights.  He allowed us to taste from his glass once we became teenagers.  Sometimes my grandfather’s wine was smooth and rich with flavor but a lot of times it could have doubled as turpentine (of course my father drank it anyway).  This developed my taste buds for full bodied reds and ultimately,  California Cabernets. I want to tell you about one of the finest culinary evenings I have ever had in my life.  My wife and I dined at Per Se this past Saturday night for our anniversary and we are still glowing over our amazing experience.  From the moment we walked into this world renowned restaurant, we were treated like royalty.  We were seated in the upper tier of tables and looked out at a spectacular view of Columbus Circle and a corner of Central Park.  On our table was a hand written card from Thomas Keller wishing us a Happy Anniversary.  I was already blown away! The Chef had pu...

I have not been in the hospitality business my whole career and if that is a surprise to some, I say “thank you”.  I spent the previous twenty five years in the transportation industry.  Most of my friends had quite a chuckle when I told them of my future plans.  They all said that I was crazy for getting into such a tough business and my reply to them was that I was coming from a very tough business. Well, three and a half years later, here I am.  My associates at the Inn have guided me and I have learned quite a bit.  Like anyone else, there are functions that I loo...

My two daughters are “horse people” and compete in many shows throughout the year, around the east coast.  I try and attend as many shows as possible but sometimes, it is logistically impossible.  This past weekend I attended the Hampton Classic in East Hampton, NY and when I say that this was the most impressive show I have ever been to, it is a huge understatement. We rented a gorgeous house for the week with five other families from our barn and had a great time.  I have not been out to the Hampton’s for years and had forgotten how many farms were nestled in between the imme...
